Getting here
Palm Beach is roughly two hours south of Durban on the N2 and about 25 minutes south of Margate. Margate Airport handles regional flights, and King Shaka International in Durban is a straightforward drive down the coast. Once you are here, most of what you need is walkable.

About 25 minutesThe South Coast's main town — shops, the airport, and the beachfront if you want a busier day out.
Oribi Gorge
About 50 minutesDramatic hiking, the Lake Eland suspension bridge, and the Wild Gorge swing for the brave.
Wild Coast Sun
About 20 minutesCasino, water park and golf just across the Mtamvuna River in the Eastern Cape.
The coastal calendar
June – July
The Sardine Run
Millions of sardines move up the coast, followed by dolphins, sharks and diving gannets. Often visible from the beach itself.
June – November
Whale season
Humpbacks migrate past the point. On a clear morning you can watch them breach from the sun room without getting out of your chair.
December – January
Peak summer
Warm water, long evenings and the estate at its liveliest. Book early — December fills first and stays full.
